NEWS, March 2005

Hey everyone,
Things are more hectic than ever, so as much as I love blathering on in my feisty diary entries, for right now I think it will suffice if I just paste news from the latest Jason Brody email here. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get all rambly again by the end of the month:

you’re all invited to come see the full band’s philly debut at the manhattan room this coming saturday, march 5, at 10pm. bob, jeff, and i literally have not played a full-on rock show since november, so we’re primed for this one, and the bill includes some great philly artists, too. if you’re thereabouts, be sure and catch us. full venue details:
the manhattan room
15 w. girard ave. (b/w front and frankford sts.)
philadelphia, pa
(215) 739-5577
$7

mere hours after our philly show, and after numerous scheduling setbacks, we finally enter the studio to begin recording the new jason brody ep. we’ll be tracking at stratosphere sound here in nyc with geoff sanoff, an engineer/producer who has worked with the likes of the fountains of wayne, luna, hem, and nathan larson (a favorite of mine, formerly of the band shudder to think). words can’t do justice to how excited i am to be capturing the band’s sound in such hallowed halls, so i will just shut up about it now. updates on the recording and the ep release will be coming, so stay tuned.

finally, come mid-march, i will be going on the road with the band benzos, playing lead guitar for them as they showcase at both south by southwest in austin and the winter music conference in miami. experiencing two venerated music conferences and some time in the sun is certainly nothing to gripe at, and benzos is a great band you’ll probably be hearing lots about in the near future, so i’m pretty psyched. i hope to keep a journal in my besotted and road-weary state, and will post it when i return—if there’s anything in there remotely worth sharing. if you’re going to be at SXSW, let me know. perhaps we’ll rendezvous.

mark your calendars now. the next new york show is at
pete’s candy store
709 lorimer st.
williamsburg, brooklyn, nyc
thursday, april 7, 9:30pm,

to be followed a few days later by my beantown debut, solo acoustic at the all asia in cambridge, MA , sunday, april 10, 6pm (yes, you heard right, 6pm). i’ll tell you about that again later, but consider it an early heads-up to my boston-area friends. spread the freakin’ word!

finally, thanks to those who made it out to pianos last friday—even to those of you who showed up way too late for the show. bob and i had a great time, and we’ll likely be back there soon.

xo,
jason
