One day I swung my arm wide
Hurled you out into the void
Watched you scrape up and down the mountainside
Dancing in the road
And all along the garden bleeding on a rose
I sat back admiring how you flew
I waited admiring the view
For you to swing back into my hand
Don’t fly too far away…
Come back
Now dusk is steady coming down
And I’m still listening for that humming sound
Ringing on the air, but silence
I’m searching the horizon
And all in between the dark clouds up above
Like looking for the dove to come and end the flood
Still drowning, empty-handed
Flood is on and I’m down in it
Don’t fly too far away… |
