Come to Life

Never liked Sundays
And there’s nowhere to be in the morning
Living my life like a cat up a tree don’t you know
These idle hands
Same that grope out in the night
In the hope of something new come to life

Everyone hollow eyed and shivering
Staring up at the blackened sky and the absences
Thinking come to life

Last night I nearly cried
When they said it was time to go
Could’ve sat drinking until sunup don’t you know
Dreamt of your memory
Lighting up the warm summer sky
Woke up to the dust of the world blowing by

Everyone…

It’s hard to clear your head
When you’re living like the dead
Hard to look away from what you see there
But I’ll dry my bleeding eyes
Quit being what I despise
And lead us through the smoke if you’ll be there
If you’ll be there…

Everyone hollow eyed and shivering
Staring up at the blackened sky and the absences
Everyone standing around here in waiting
Broken and sleepless but no one wants to go home
Thinking come to life
